Our Focus: We focus on the needs of those companies and people who provide label and decal printing services to the marketplace. Within the companies who provide those services, whether they are in-house or a store front, we focus on software, printing and cutting equipment, and finishing systems for the "On Demand" short run marketplace.

Our History: We incorporated in 1994. The staff of Graphic Marking Systems has over 60 years of combined experience in the graphics industry. Our clients include small one person and part time businesses to large blue-chip corporations across the country.

We are successful because we are sincere in our desire to contribute to your success. Hands-on involvement with our clients in production and applications has contributed significantly to the technical knowledge of our staff.

Marjorie McCullough:
President, Training and Application Specialist, Gerber Specialist.

Marjorie wears many hats including the finance, credit, and sales hats. "Helping the customer is what I enjoy most. That's where the sales come from," she says. "Being the first line of support in important to us."

Marjorie's background: In 1984 Marjorie started her carrier as the credit manager for a major video distributor. 1988 Marjorie created and managed a POP display production department servicing video retail stores.

In 1990 she became a"Gerber Specialist" for Hyatt's Graphic Supply. She sold, installed and trained countless people on Gerber equipment and laminators. Marjorie started Distribution Enterprises, Inc. in 1994 and marketed the E$timator™ software, which she helped create as a pricing solution specifically designed for the Gerber Edge®.

In 1997 Marjorie moved the business from Cleveland to Chicago to open a distributorship for Gerber specifically targeting the label and decal printing market. She decided to create a new presence (DBA) as Graphic Marking Systems for that market. Since moving to the Chicago area, Marjorie and her husband Doug Goodloe have installed hundreds of systems, for corporations, manufacturers, label houses, screen printers, and sign & graphic companies.

In the process of providing technical, marketing, and developmental assistance and support over the years, Marjorie has been instrumental in developing many unique materials for GMS customers.

Doug Goodloe

Doug has many years of experience to draw from. He has experienced the metamorphosis from the days of paste-up and manually processing films through the whole digital era. With his offset and screen printing background, it helps him identify and solve problems when prospects want to move up to the newer production technologies.

He has been a specialist on the Gerber equipment and other short run labeling and finishing solutions since 1989. He now is in charge of what products Graphic Marking Systems offers. "We like to offer robust products that help our customers reach the niche markets," Doug says. "The equipment and materials we sell can save companies money and expand their product offering."

Doug's background: Doug started in the graphics business in 1976 as a freelance marker comp artist. After graduating from the commercial art program at Jr. College of Albany, he worked as art director and production engineer for commercial ad agencies, offset and screen print houses. Doug purchased and operated everything from typesetting equipment and stat cameras to film processors, Gerber vinyl cutters and design stations.

In 1989 Doug took a position with Hyatt's Graphic Supply as a "Gerber Specialist" and opened up a new territory for them in the MidWest. Over the next few years, he met Marjorie and together they saturated the Cleveland Market with Gerber Equipment. They also created the only successful members based "Gerber Users Group." In the User's Group Doug taught advanced Gerber pre-press and output classes on a quarterly basis for 4 years.

After moving to Chicago, Doug became involved in researching and managing product lines of thermal and inkjet printers and compatible finishing systems.

Doug writes most of the content for the web site, training outlines, and performs most of the advanced instruction on the systems GMS sells.

"We are focused on thermal transfer products." And he says, "We are busy expanding our line of unique materials and short run digital solutions for the on-demand printer."

Scott Rose

With almost 20 years of experience in all facets of the printing business, Scott was welcomed to be part of the GMS team. Scott brings his hands-on involvement and high regard for excellent customer service to our team.

Scott's background: Scott has been involved in all levels of print production from typesetting & design to offset, inkjet, thermal printing to production & finishing.

Scott says "Attitude is everything... If you don't take care of your customers, someone else will." Since coming on board, Scott has helped develop and maintain many key accounts. Scott also played a key roll in the development of the SaberSlit laminating and finishing system as well as additional unique materials.

Jeff Duran
Marketing Director

Jeff brings many years of experience in web development, journalism, art direction and hands on artistic experience to the team.

He is responsible for our "web presence" and literature as well as helping the GMS team decide how to market products. He also provides customer and technical support when necessary.

Jeff's background: Jeff has worked in almost every part of the communications and marketing fields.
