Most equipment and consumer products have some kind of I. D. tag or serial number label on them. The label usually contains serial numbers, product information, etc. This information will vary for each unit produced. The graphics are usually simple, but the information that changes can be extensive. That's where the "digital" link shines. Because the thermal systems we sell are digital, the software is capable of pulling information from lists or databases of information. Therefore, each name plate or asset tag can contain unique information about the product. And then there are laminates... many kinds of laminates. We have highly tested and qualified laminates such as Tuff-Cover™, Lexan®, vinyl and polyester. Asset Tags:
Tamper evident means that if someone tries to remove the label, it will destruct or break apart leaving the word "VOID" or another pattern showing on both the label and the surface of the product. It is usually evident that it has been tampered with. Many companies use these types of labels as warning or "Void Warranty If Removed" markings. Destructible material will break apart and will be difficult to remove without a scraper. There is no way to get the material off the surface and preserve the label. This is especially important for warning labels on equipment that if removed, could cause the manufacturer to be liable for resulting injuries. Name Plates:
Now they do it in 3-4 hours for a fraction of the cost. And if there are any extras needed, they can be generated on the spot. They don't use aluminum anymore. We are witnessing a shift away from actual metal plates when strong base materials, adhesives, durable print, and laminates will do the job. Complete constructions of materials+inks+laminates have been UL recognized with the thermal transfer printing process. And we continue to research, develop and test materials for extreme environments. Variable Data and Bar Codes: You have unlimited colors and typefaces when you use a digital method. Bar codes are easy to understand with the characteristics of each kind explained in detail in the software manual. And with the hand held bar code scanner, checking for accuracy is also easy.
