Now
you have a choice...
The ruggedness of Tuff Cover
indoors and out.
This laminate was formulated to provide a
durable 5 yr. UV protective covering as well as withstanding push-button
applications.
TUFF
Cover Indoor is 8 mils.
thick and is rigid with a velvet embossed, abrasion resistant semi-matte
finish. It adds depth and clarity to your finished graphics, making them
easy to read without any glare. It easily surpasses most polycarbonate
films for UV stability and push-button actuations. This makes it the film
of choice for many membrane switch, control panel, architectural sign
applications, etc.

Tuff Cover is a great protective laminate for keyboard
overlays.
Because it is a laminate, you can use your own variety of base vinyls
or polyesters that fit the application and then give them a tough and
durable cover with this laminate.
Tuff Cover UV MAX Outdoor is the same
8 mil film as the indoor, but it has double the UV inhibitors of most
films. The test results are impressive and we are getting great feedback
on the product.

The Wyoming
Bureau of Land Management uses it on their park signs
TUFF
Cover UV Max out performs most polycarbonates at a fraction of the cost.
At an average of $1.20 per square foot,
it's hard to beat such a durable UV Blocking laminate.
The degree of
fade on thermal transfer resin ribbons was greatly reduced by laminating
with Tuff Cover. It can therefore be assumed that Tuff Cover may provide
the same outcome when laminated on media printed by other methods.
*2,500
hours of QUV testing was also preformed, which equals approximately 5
years of UV exposure when applied vertically.
We have also tested Tuff Cover with everything from gasoline to
sulfuric acid on samples of data plates for vehicles. Those test results
are also available upon request. A 300 hr. Carbon Arc Wheatherometer test
has also just been completed. Look for UL recognition soon.
Although both the film and adhesive have UV inhibitors
in
them, performance and added ribbon life will depend on the exact environmental
conditions of the intended application. This information does not suggest
or constitute a written or verbal warranty of guaranty of any kind by
the manufacturer or distributor of this product. Purchasers of this product
are responsible for independently determining the suitability of the material
for the intended application.

TUFF
Cover Blocks UV Damage!
Tuff Cover has withstood the harsh conditions of the
Arizona desert sun outdoors for an equivelant of 5 years now. Amazingly
it has preserved the color from process thermal transfer ribbons an average
of 90% or better. The bar graph above shows the degree of fade on the
Yellow VS. the Yellow with Tuff Cover UV laminate (Yel/TC). The
Cyan is almost as dramatic. The test panel pictured below is the actual
test panel we received back from Arizona. The yellow
has been the quickest to fade from the beginning. The Cyan did OK up until
year 4 and then it took a nose dive. (See the chart under the test panel
below.)

The
color swatches were prepared by printing with process color
resin ribbons using a Gerber Edge® on a High Performance 7 yr. white
vinyl. The left column of
colors was not laminated. The right column was laminated with Tuff Cover.

The chart below was composed from the readings taken by a spectraphotometer
starting at one year with little or no change until year two. The yellow
fades away quickly. A "Delta E" reading of 3 or more is significant
enough for most people to notice a difference in color. The resin ribbons
were rated for 3 to 5 years. Look what happens to the Cyan after 4 years.

Actual
test readings are available upon request. The chart at above is based
upon those test results.
